Community Refugee Support Breakfast

CRISP is a program that enables community groups to provide practical, hands- on support to a refugee household from their arrival date in Australia.

Electrify Curtin is a volunteer campaign and website to help you efficiently electrify your own home. Our website has useful information about rooftop solar, home batteries, switching your gas appliances to electric, and improving your energy efficiency. Our volunteers have upgraded their own homes and are ready to share their expertise and experience with you.
Electrification and energy efficiency can reduce energy bills, improve home comfort and indoor air quality, and reduce your carbon emissions. It’s a win for your wallet, your health, and the climate!

A Plastic Free Future?

Good Infill Forum
Kate Chaney, Independent Member for Curtin, is hosting a Good Infill Forum. This forum builds on last year’s Housing Forums. Kate hopes the Good Infill Forum will broaden the conversation beyond simply pro and anti-development to explore how infill can be done well and in a way to enhance communities and address future challenges.
The globally recognised, Professor Peter Newman will speak on why we need good infill. Professor Josh Byrne, environmental scientist, landscape designer and ABC TV Gardening Australia presenter, will address how medium density infill and nature can co-exist. Kellie McGivern, design manager at property developer, Hesperia, will address what are features of good infill that we can see at Project level in and around Curtin.

Grant Writing Workshop
This workshop is mainly for community groups who apply for the Federal Government Stronger Communities and Volunteer Grants that are run in the electorate of Curtin.
It is also an introduction to what is available within different grant area for a range of issues.
A broad overview of grant writing will be addressed, followed by some specifics around the current round of the Stronger Communities grant.
Local governments within the electorate of Curtin also run grant programs and they have been invited to speak so that the community becomes more aware of what is available and what will improve your chances of success.

NDIS Solutions Forum
The Government is currently conducting a Review of the NDIS. The Review is looking at the design, operations, workforce and sustainability of the Scheme. The Review is being conducted by a panel and began in November 2022. The panel has committed to being guided by participant and community feedback.
The Review has already had a wide range of feedback on the problems with the NDIS and has also collated feedback from previous reviews and studies. The panel are now focussed on ideas to solve these problems. We will use your feedback from this forum to collate a Curtin submission to the Review.

Curtin sustainability Fair
A day long exhibition of the ideas, products, businesses, advocacy, and education that are promoting a broad range of sustainability solutions. As we transition to net zero, we will all need to make changes, and this event is designed to give you some tips on how to play your part.
There will be demonstrations about waste, recycling, energy, fashion, and food consumption as well as activities for kids.
