NATIVE VERGE OPEN DAY

SATURDAY 14 SEPTEMBER

Join us for a spring showcase of native verges across Curtin. Take the whole family to see wildflowers in bloom and soak up the spring sunshine, and get inspiration and practical tips on how to do your own native verge.

More than 100 native verges in the electorate are participating in the day. Check out our map below to find a verge near you, and explore verges in your neighbourhood with our self-guided walking trails.

Visit one of our showcase verges to hear from Kate Chaney MP, Hannah Gulliver from ReWild Perth, and other experts:

  • 10am: 36 Manning St, Mosman Park

  • 11am: 42 Grant St, Cottesloe

  • 12pm: 79 Evans St, Shenton Park

  • 1pm: 99 Grovedale Rd, Floreat

  • 2pm: 6 Camden St, Wembley Downs

  • 3pm: 43A Thor St, Innaloo

Converting your verge to natives is a fantastic way to save on water, support local wildlife and make your garden more climate resilient.

Native verges are low maintenance and never need mowing. They celebrate WA’s beautiful local plants and protect our precious biodiversity.

HOW TO DO A NATIVE VERGE MAKEOVER

Over winter, our volunteers helped Melanie replace her lawn verge with natives. This process was quick, but took a lot of heavy lifting to remove the grass.

Thank you to the Town of Mosman Park for supporting us with lawn removal and mulch delivery. Thank you to volunteer, Emma, for making the video.

This flyer steps you through a low cost, low effort process for replacing your lawn verge with native plants. You’ll need to start in spring or summer, but each step is easy and cheap.

Thank you to the Town of Cambridge for sharing this process with us.
